Salida ArtWorks would like to invite everyone -- from business people to patrons -- to its monthly Creative Mixer, a social gathering that allows musicians, performers, artists, writers, dancers and additional artisans to meet and greet each other and those who enjoy and support Salida's art scene. A cash bar will be available, and refreshments will be served.
ArtWorks provides resources and programs designed to nurture artistic expression and broaden participation in the arts.

Salida Regional LibraryWebsiteRenowned and award-winning poet Aaron A. Abeyta will conduct a poetry-writing seminar, sponsored by ArtWorks, on Saturday, March 13, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salida Regional Library, 405 E Street. Cost is $25 and limited to 20 students. Dinner Theater-Fundraiser Evening
This fun and food-filled evening is a joint fundraising event for Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity and the Buena Vista Habitat Missions trip build in New Mexico. The event is FREE, and donations are strongly encouraged. A lasagna dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by a theater-melodrama and sing-a-long at 7 p.m. The church is located at 217 Crossman, Buena Vista. ArtWorks Brings Critically Acclaimed Poet Aaron A. Abeyta to SalidaWebsite
Award-winning poet Aaron A. Abeyta will headline the first in a new series of groundbreaking cultural events presented by Salida ArtWorks. Titled “Poetry At The Plant,” the first of a three-part series, which will be held now through May, will feature readings by locally and nationally prominent poets in a relaxed setting within the Paquette Gallery in Salida’s Steam Plant Event Center at 7 p.m. on March 13.
Aaron A. Abeyta, winner of both the American Book Award and Colorado Book Award for his poetry collection “Colcha,” will read and discuss his works. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. There will be a cash bar.
An "Open Microphone” will follow Abeyta’s performance, allowing wordsmiths to recite up to two works of poetry. Interested persons can sign up at 6:30 p.m. for the open microphone recital. The stage will be available to the first 10 who sign up,

SundayMar 14 2010Walden Chamber Music Society Concert3–5pm
SteamPlant TheaterWebsiteEnjoy the sublime music of Mozart and Dvorak, and discover Kenji Bunch’s contemporary sound, performed by the Walden Chamber Music Society with Bing Wang, violinist, Barbara Sudweeks, violist, both from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Camilla Bonzo, cellist and Jo Boatright, pianist. They will present Mozart's "Piano Quartet in e flat, K.493", Kenji Bunch’s "Suite for viola and piano" (1998), and Dvorak's "Piano Quartet No.2 in E flat, Op. 87". A great afternoon at the concert with two of the most beloved classical composers and a modern twist! There will be an informance at 2:00pm.
Tickets ($15/adult; $8/student) are available at the SteamPlant Theaterand at the Salida and Buena Vista Chambers of Commerce, as well as at the door prior to the concert.
